Mr. Cole circa 1875
Some mystery surrounds this photograph of Mr Cole. On the back of the original held at the Pickering Public Library, it says “Fred Cole”. If this indeed is Mr. Fred Cole, he would be too young in 1875 to have grey/white hair and look the age he does. Perhaps then, it is his father? If you know more about the man in this photograph please share with us!
The Cole family has a tie to the Pickering Museum Village in that the Cole family donated the house now known as the Miller-Cole House to the PMV.
Facial Hairstyle: Neckbeard. An old beard that is grown only on the neck and worn without a goatee or moustache. Also known as a scarf, trevor or throatee. Pejoratively, a beard grown to hide a double chin.
